tibetiandodd Tibet by way of Italy Lewis Dodd
Getting new cutting photos from Lewis Dodd is like Pizza Day back in elementary school; it’s the culmination of all things good. (without being burned by the cheese).

Lewis did this Tibetan piece on Christiano after the APTPI Conference; very consistent with what I’ve come to expect from Mr. Dodd; bold clean lines complimenting great design and placement. We’re going to have to get him stateside; I’m going to harass him until he agrees to come to APP.

More Lewis Dodd?
Hell yes. This decorative skull piece was done at Addicted Tattoo & Body Piercing in Barcelona; a collaboration between Mr. Dodd and Addicted’s owner Capo.

I’m freshly returned from John Joyce’s Scarab Body Arts in Syrcause; newly tattooed by Rick Lohm and enjoying a day off looking through pictures for the next few sw blog updates. Check back later tonight for more from Thorsten!

rose scarification

In tattoo iconography, the rose is one of the most highly recognizable “old school” designs. To get it just right is deceptively hard. Too realistic, it looks gaudy. Too simple, and it looks like cabbage. It’s especially difficult to pull off a good rose design when you don’t have shading and color to give it definition.

If you’ve been keeping up with the scarwars blog lately though, you know that our man in the UK Lewis Dodd has a keen eye for scarification pieces featuring traditional tattoo imagery and is quickly becoming known for his bold line cutting. Add it all up and the client is going to end up with an amazing scar courtesy of Mr. Dodd.

The always impressive Mr. Lewis Dodd checks in with another amazing all black tattoo removal piece. Working on tattooed skin is very difficult; keeping up with the stencil takes a lot of patience and skill; luckily Lewis has both.

lewis dodd cutting

Another amazing traditional tattoo style cutting by Lewis Dodd. This piece was from tattoo flash by Ralph Johnstone somewhere in the 1950s. I love single line cutting like this; I think that removal would have left this piece a little too unbalanced. The simplicity of the line cutting is subtle for such a bold design.

Lewis just keeps knocking it out of the park.

blackout cutting by Lewis Dodd
Cutting by Lewis Dodd, Glorybound Tattoos, UK

I’m not going to lie; this week has been a ballbuster for me. One thing after another conspiring to wear me down.
Something about this cutting by our friend Lewis Dodd just screamed WIN to me; “We are the Champions” by Queen blasting as the home team makes the final (sports reference here. I’m clueless) and wins the game.

Lewis does a decent amount of scar work on black tattoos; I have a few great pieces lined up for future updates (with healed followup pictures). He’s someone who’s constantly turning out amazing work- if you haven’t stopped by his IAM.bmezine.com page to check out his work- now’s the time to start!
