John Joyce

The Philadelphia Tattoo Arts Convention is coming up again; March 26th-28th 2010. John J. Joyce is considering attending/cutting again this year so I’m spreading the word: If you’d like to be cut by John in Philadelphia you can contact him through the Scarab Website. Every person who gets cut by John at the convention will get a drawing of a monkey by either my girlfriend or my nephew as a present.

This reminder comes with another Gogo appearance; again from SW3 in Philly back in 2007, Photographed by Casey Goldsmith.

scarification

John Joyce and Brian Decker were both cutting my face when Casey took this picture. It was either the last cutting or close to it of the last night of Scarwars3 in Philadelphia, October of 2007.

The boys were cutting into scar tissue from my previous facial cutting(s) and the pain was starting to spike. My friend Klein came over and took my hand and squeezed it. Followed by Sarvas, Christiane and Håvve. Hand after hand grabbing me, reminding me that I was doing just fine. To this day, I don’t know how many of my friends were holding me. Most of the SW guests had gone home with just a core groups of die-hards still hanging around. The feeling of safety and of my friends looking out for me was one of the most amazing things that came out of the weekend for me.

Todd seems bored.

John Joyce and Brian Decker teamed up at SW3 in Philadelphia to do a collaborative geometric cutting/removal on Todd’s blacked out sleeve. Casey shot this picture shortly after they started the piece which took several hours before they called it quits until a followup appointment.

Cutting/Branding into blacked out tattoos is fairly common- We’ll talk to Todd about getting a healed photo. An upclose photo of the fresh piece follows the break.
