Fresh facial scarification usually comes with a cringe factor that’s easy enough to understand. While the results usually heal much softer than most of us would like, a newly cut/branded face can be fairly shocking at first glance. Most visible modifications become public domain; tattooed hands/necks usually guarantee interaction (wanted or not) but with a facial scar people want to know “what happened” but propriety usually keeps them from asking.
